This blog post is going to feature a collection of links all
related to the Internet Archive (http://archive.org) starting
with one of their very timely blog posts.
Many websites have thrown up a standard announcement page in
response to the government shut down. Have any of you come across these sites
while doing your own research? Hats off to archive.org for allowing users to
access earlier versions of the sites using their Way Back Machine. Think of the
Way Back machine as a backup copy of the Internet. This is just one example of
why digital libraries are important.

While this TED talk is rather dated, Brewster Kahle gives a passionate talk about the Internet
Archive project, a free digital library.
Anyone who has not used this site should check out this video. As Kahle describes
many of the project’s efforts to meet the "universal access to all
knowledge” mission. From downloading e-books or listening to audio books, the
Internet Archive project has something for everyone.

As I research attitudes
and ideas about future libraries, the group shares ideas on their about page
supporting digital libraries. I plan to use the links on this page as a
starting point for deeper exploration.
